Frequently Asked Questions

If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, we’re always here to help. Feel free to reach out anytime.

Your heating and cooling system should be professionally serviced twice a year—once before the cooling season and once before the heating season. Regular HVAC maintenance helps improve efficiency, prevent breakdowns, and extend the life of your system.

You can significantly lower your energy bills by keeping your HVAC system in top condition. Routine maintenance, professional duct sealing, and proper home insulation all help your heating and cooling system run more efficiently. These steps reduce energy waste, improve airflow, and help your equipment operate at peak performance, ultimately lowering your monthly operating costs.

Most HVAC systems typically last 12–15 years under normal conditions. However, homes in coastal areas or oceanfront environments may see a shorter lifespan of 8–10 years due to salt‑air exposure, which can accelerate corrosion. Other factors—such as the quality of the initial installation, the surrounding environment, and how consistently the system receives routine maintenance—can significantly extend or reduce the overall life expectancy of your heating and cooling equipment.

Air filters should be checked once a month and replaced as needed. Standard 1-inch filters typically last 1–3 months, while high‑efficiency 4-inch filters can last 6–12 months. Indoor conditions—such as dust levels, pets, smoking, renovations, or allergies—can shorten filter life, so it’s important to monitor your filter regularly to keep your HVAC system running efficiently.

If your HVAC system isn’t turning on or isn’t running properly, here are a few simple troubleshooting steps you can try before scheduling service:

  • Check your thermostat to make sure it’s set to the correct mode (heat or cool) and temperature. If your thermostat uses batteries, replace them if needed.
  • Inspect your breaker panel to see if any HVAC‑related breakers are tripped. Reset them if necessary.
  • Check your air filter and replace it if it’s dirty or clogged, as restricted airflow can shut the system down.
  • Look at your outdoor unit to ensure it’s free of debris, leaves, or ice buildup that could prevent proper operation.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, our trained technicians are ready to diagnose the problem and get your system running again.
